Math, Memory, and Art

Memory, Math, and Art are the same

“Your website raises the same questions as mine and Conrad is a living example of ‘factory installed’ software and access to it. ln some ways he fits the Einstein Syndrome. I write about that in my Islands of Genius book and on www.savantsyndrome.com

-Darold A. Treffert, M.D.

This site is dedicated to the development, opinions, and study of rapid speed by which a savant’s gifts grow, especially as children, and which require documentation and tracking. This is because Math and Memory appear to register differently in the brain. In Conrad Fok, skills emerge in ‘explosions’ or bursts, with repetitive sequence and lightning accuracy.

Conrad Fok was born with a math skill before any prior math exposure. Just this fact alone has profound implications that truly challenge everything we’ve ever known about the system by which we’ve learned or even know. It questions the conditions and avenues given when we were young, whether the track we were on took us on its ride and left our true natures aloof at the starting line. But it tells us math is as inborn as art might be. And if it is inborn, is it part of the physical nature of the brain and its mysteries. Is math as physical as the cells and synapses. With our analytical natures, the human nature then naturally creates artifacts such as humor, poetry, art, music, all a part of the neuro-manifest. It creates meanings, questions, and answers as all a part of a human kind theater.

Why does the Savant retrieve the depths of the infinite as if they were its own species developed out of a collective shock of modern times, threatened by war, conflicts, and regressive morales? They seem to be born from an era of distress with a purity that must leap across rapidly. These children seem to be given a percentage of the autism spectrum, a 10% probability of mental gift and that gift is his/her survival, yet the survival is of the species, the human race. This is what the race is. Man’s intelligence. It is trying to break through to the next level, or a level it had not cultivated.

We can focus on tapping their intelligence, cultivating it, nurturing, so that we can learn a different way. Be inspired. Trust we can mine the spaces in our heads and visualize.

1 out 68 children are diagnosed with autism. No one has ever provided any official definitive explanation why. We are given this opportunity to innovate and navigate the unknown. After what I have witnessed, I believe the linear way to progress are snapshots. That things are left to right was to believe everything involves singular steps.

The Savant way, seems to show us perhaps the 99% of our brains we could have accessed. They have access to unchartered territories of our capacity.
